Steroid Cycles

Anabolic steroid cycle explains the time frame to use anabolic steroids. The time frame when steroids are used is often referred to as ‘On-Cycle’. The time when steroids are not used is referred to as ‘Off-Cycle’. For the on-cycle there are many options and stacks. ‘Stack’ is the combination of anabolic steroids and non-steroidal items that are used during the on-cycle phase. There are innumerable possible stacks with hundreds of anabolic steroids, peptide hormones, SERM’s, AI’s, thyroid hormones and more. The options are almost unlimited, every stack and cycle an athlete undertakes could be completely different. With that being said, most steroid users will become comfortable with certain stacks. They will discover specific combinations that yield the best results, and they will stick with those plans.

There are general rules and advisements that will help keep you safe, regardless of the stack or cycle you run. The primary rule of every cycle is that it has to include some form of testosterone. The form of testosterone used is not important. What matters is that the body has enough of testosterone to function properly. (The use of essential testosterone doesn’t apply to female anabolic steroid cycles.)

Other than testosterone there are several more recommendations that most stacks and cycles are advised to follow. You will increase your chances of an successful, safe and enjoyable steroid cycle by following these rules. That is very important. If it’s not safe it cannot be called successful.

First Steroid Cycles:

If this is the first time you will supplement with anabolic steroids, it is recommended that you keep things as simple as you can. You don’t know jet how your body will react to supra-physiological doses of a hormone. Furthermore, it is advisable to start with hormones, that your body is already familiar with, like testosterone. Many will skip this and immediately start with massive stacks and cycles. More often than not this is a shame. It will not take too long to see a big difference. If you become familiar with different anabolic steroids, you’ll have a better understanding overtime as to what works best for you. If you start with many different steroids in your cycle and you experience any problems, it will be extremely difficult to pinpoint what is causing the problem. Equally important, pinpointing which steroids bring you the greatest results will be also difficult. Our advice would be to start simple and work your way up.

Advanced Cycles and Stacks:

Once you are done with a few cycles and stacks, you can now consider moving to more advanced cycles, assuming you’ve enjoyed a positive experience. For many athletes, however, there may be no need or desire for an increase in doses or to increase the number of hormones being used. Many will be satisfied with basic cycles, and that is ok. A simple and moderately dosed testosterone cycle may be all a male athlete would ever need, and this cycle will work for him every single time. One’s body will not just adapt to where such a plan will no longer work. Despite this, many men will want more. If smaller steroid cycles were successful, they can increase the dosage. However, bigger stacks and cycles come with a word of caution that we need to discuss.

Risk to Reward:

All steroid cycles and stacks have a strong risk to reward ratio. The best way to look at it is “the more you take the greater the reward”, but then “the more you take the greater the risk”. As risks increases, so does the need for protective measures. But there will be a cut-off point. A point where the risk to reward ratio becomes severely skewed towards risk.

Where the line that crosses over into heavy risk is, cannot be answered with a one-size-fits-all answer. The anabolic steroids that are in stack and also the individual’s unique genetic response will determine where this line is. There are general guidelines, however. For testosterones performance benefits, most athletes will need 300mg a week. 400-500mg will be far more efficient. With the increased dose, one can achieve better rewards, but also the potential for side effects is higher. Most men will normally tolerate 500mg of testosterone per week, and most men can even increase the dose past this point. Many can remain healthy even with the 750-1000mg range, but past this point, most will find the risk scale becomes very unbalanced. When 1g per week is surpassed, estrogenic issues can start to be problematic, and many will find it extremely difficult to control them.

Duration of Use:

As steroid cycle refers to the time in which an athlete is supplementing with anabolic steroids, the question is, what is the acceptable time frame? What is the minimum time of use for positive gains and what is the maximum amount of using time to stay safe? Fortunately, there are guidelines that will help you stay safe. Your plan will need to extend for a decent amount of time. Our bodies don’t like changes. Even if the change is in body’s best interest it will fight it and do all it can to stay at its accustomed normal. So we must allow enough time for this “normal” to change. A new set of normal has to be created if we are to hang onto any of the gains made. Even then, if you are off-cycle for a longer period of time you are going to lose some of the gains made. Removing the hormones, you have removed a support system.

For creating “a new normal”, 8 weeks will be the minimum and 12 weeks will be far more efficient for most men. With a longer use you will achieve better results (to a degree) but will also increase the risk of side effects. For those who want solid gains, 12-16 weeks of supplementation, followed by an equal amount of off-cycle time is the best and quite safe bet. This plan is effective, and it will be the plan that carries the greatest potential for a safe experience (while absolute safety cannot be guaranteed).

For some men, however, this plan will not work. The truly advanced steroid users, hard-core elite, will often be on-cycle for a longer time than they are off. Why? Because this is the only way these individuals can support the massive strength and size they’ve gained. It’s not uncommon for them to have 16-20-week cycles and to discontinue for only 4-8 weeks. Sometimes, they will not discontinue at all, they will only drop to a low dose for 4-8 weeks before beginning another 16-20 week of testosterone supplementing. At some point they will probably stop using. While such dosage can be effective, it also has a good potential for adverse effects.

Sample Steroid Cycles:

We will specify sample steroid cycles for all levels of use, outlines for all purposes regardless of the goal. The beginner plans will work for as long as you would like them to. When you complete a few beginner cycles, you do not have to move to more advanced plans. If desired, you can. And how do you know when you are ready to advance? Please read this checklist:

  • Beginner to Intermediate:
    • You have successfully completed a few beginner cycles.
    • You have not suffered from any severe side effects.
    • You have made decent gains but have reached a point where you want a little more.
  • Intermediate to Advanced:
    • Intermediate cycles are as much as most will ever want or need. If you cannot make satisfying gains with intermediate plans, you need to re-examine your diet and training.
    • If you have successfully completed several intermediate cycles and have a desire to reach freakish levels of muscularity, you can proceed to an advanced cycle.
  • Beyond Advanced:
    • The advanced steroid cycles are incredibly powerful and carry a significant level of risk. We cannot recommend surpassing advanced plans. If you go beyond the advanced plans, you will open the door to possible problems that are not only potentially severe, but even life threatening.
